‘Get Moving’ was the theme for St Michael’s annual ‘a-thon’ event held on Tuesday September 4 2018. This year we focussed on the healthy benefits of ‘getting moving’ and its influence on the learning and development of children.
Our school was registered for National Health & Physical Education Day which was on September 5.
Health & Physical Education (HPE) Day is a nationwide initiative that highlights the importance of HPE in the Australian Curriculum, and its influence on the learning and development of children.
Most children’s waking hours are spent sitting at school and at home, so it’s important to get them to be more active as part of everyday life.
The rain held off (nobody would have complained about rain!) and all planned grade activities were able to take place. The school was filled with the sounds of fun and frivolity as students and teachers engaged in energetic games. Everyone got moving!
Thank you to our families for your generous support of our ‘Move-a-thon’ day. A total of $15,948.95 has been raised so far to go towards the literacy and technology resources for teaching and learning.

☀️ Perimeter in the Sunshine! 📏 What a beautiful day for learning outdoors! 5 Green took their maths lesson outside, using metre rulers and chalk to explore perimeter in a hands-on way. With a challenge set to create different shapes that all had a perimeter of 8 metres, students measured, drew and labelled their designs on the playground, discovering that there’s more than one way to reach the same total! World Maths Day at St Michael’s = serious brain power with a side of fun 🧠✨ Our Kindergarten legends were busy bossing shapes all morning 🔺🟦🔵 Building them, sorting them, spotting them everywhere and loving every second. 🐠 Year 2 had a fin-tastic adventure last week 🐙 Last week our Year 2 students headed off to the aquarium and what an incredible day it was. The excitement on their faces as they explored the underwater world was priceless. From colourful fish to curious sharks and playful sea creatures, there was so much to see and learn. 🌊🐟 The students asked amazing questions, shared their discoveries with friends and showed such wonderful curiosity the whole day. Big Day. Big Energy. Big Inspiration ⚡️ Our Year 6 leaders hit National Young Leaders Day today at the International Convention Centre Sydney 👏 From the moment the speakers took the stage, Catherine Laga’aia, Jess Yates, Jacqui Bell and Nick Hudson, our students were hooked 💥 Real stories, big challenges and powerful message. 700+ Unite for Project Compassion Big Water Walk
More than 700 students and staff from 23 schools across Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) came together for Caritas Australia’s Big Water Walk in support of Project Compassion. Beginning at Parramatta Park, students carried buckets of water along a 4km route, gaining a glimpse of the daily journey faced by people in developing communities, especially women and children, in search of clean water.
