Sport

St Michael’s has a designated PDHPE (Personal Development, Health and Physical Education) teacher.

Each class has one sport lesson per week and wears their sport uniform on this day.

For the purpose of school Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country carnivals, the school is divided into four house teams. These are Blue, Gold, Green and Red.

Every year Years 2-6 participate in a school Athletics carnival, Swimming carnival and Cross Country Carnival. Children who perform well in these carnivals may be selected to represent our school and the diocese at inter-school meets.

Students in Kindergarten and Year 1 participate in an Infant Sport Fun day every year. This is a half day fun day for the children and is held on the school ovals.

Children from Years 3-6 may try out and be selected for diocesan sport competitions in netball, basketball, soccer, AFL, rugby league and cricket. Parent help is required for the students to be able to participate in these competitions to coach, manage and umpire the teams.

Gifted athletes may wish to try out for diocesan sport teams. Parents must accompany their children to these trials and accept the responsibility that comes with being selected in these teams.
