‘Get Moving’ was the theme for St Michael’s annual ‘a-thon’ event held on Tuesday September 4 2018. This year we focussed on the healthy benefits of ‘getting moving’ and its influence on the learning and development of children.
Our school was registered for National Health & Physical Education Day which was on September 5.
Health & Physical Education (HPE) Day is a nationwide initiative that highlights the importance of HPE in the Australian Curriculum, and its influence on the learning and development of children.
Most children’s waking hours are spent sitting at school and at home, so it’s important to get them to be more active as part of everyday life.
The rain held off (nobody would have complained about rain!) and all planned grade activities were able to take place. The school was filled with the sounds of fun and frivolity as students and teachers engaged in energetic games. Everyone got moving!
Thank you to our families for your generous support of our ‘Move-a-thon’ day. A total of $15,948.95 has been raised so far to go towards the literacy and technology resources for teaching and learning.

🏃♂️✨ A Champion Effort! ✨🏃♂️ Harrison did our school proud as he represented Parramatta at the Regional Athletics Carnival! With his former running guide and mate, Harry (who returned for the event this year despite now attending high school), by his side once again, the duo took to the track like pros 💪 Despite changes in his vision and a new classification this year, Harrison’s determination never wavered. With the track mapped out in his mind and confidence in his stride, he sprinted his way to an incredible 2nd place finish 🥈 Next stop… PSSA! ❤️ We are so proud of Harrison—his resilience, grit and glowing smile inspire us all 🌟👏 #ParramattaPride #PSSAHereWeCome #ChampionSpirit #InclusionMatters #NeverGiveUp #ResilientRunner #SchoolPride #StMichaels #PrimarySchool #BaulkhamHills29 Jun 2025

💥 A force to be reckoned with! 💥 This term, Year 5 has been studying the Science topic “Forces” 🧲🔬 Over the past few weeks, students have researched and investigated a variety of forces in preparation for a thrilling challenge 💡⚙️ The big question was: “How can we make forces weaker or stronger to accurately land a ping pong ball into a container from a distance of 3 metres using a catapult?” 🏗️🏓 Using only pop sticks, elastic bands and a spoon, students worked collaboratively to design and build their own catapults. Some serious designing, experimenting and adjusting took place before the final models were revealed 🔧📐🧠 At the moment of truth, each group had 3 attempts to test their design. While no group managed a direct hit, a few came incredibly close — and everyone had a blast along the way! 🙌🎯 Lots of fun and lots of learning 💫📚 #Year5Science #HandsOnLearning #ForcesInAction #STEMchallenge #LearningIsFun #FutureEngineers #CatapultChallenge #PrimaryScience #CreativeKids #StMichaels #PrimarySchool #BaulkhamHills
